How to Make Yellow Paint Look Brighter

Having the walls in a room painted yellow is the first step in making your home a much brighter, more inviting place for your family and visiting friends. By itself, yellow paint is already very bright, but if it is not as bright as you want, you can take additional steps to enhance the color. You must keep in mind the main factors that affect yellow as a color: area, accents and light.

Instructions

    • 1

Paint the walls of a large room yellow. As with any other color, the larger the area you paint yellow, the more intensely the paint displays in the room. This means if you save the paint for the largest room in your house, you will naturally get a brighter look when you are done.

Paint the walls of a room that naturally gets plenty of sunlight. Being a light color, yellow walls are notable for reflecting light rather than absorbing it, making a room look naturally brighter when the sun comes soaking through the windows.

    • 3

Accent your walls with green or white colors. For example, you might have green furniture and a white ceiling, both of which work well with sunny yellow walls, according to Ilyce Glink on MoneyWatch.com.
