Painting Ideas for Tinker Bell Murals

Children love to lose themselves in the make believe world of magic and fairies. Tinker Bell is one character that is very recognizable to many young children. As such, children may decide they want their bedrooms to be decorated in a Tinker Bell theme. One way to make a big impact in a themed room is to add a painted mural to one of the walls. This may seem a daunting task, but there are many different kinds of Tinker Bell murals that can be created for every skill level.
  1. Full Scene

    • Create a full magical scene on an entire wall of the room incorporating all of Tinker Bell's friends and surroundings. This is the most labor intensive mural you can do, but it also has the most impact. Ensure you have enough time to complete the mural from start to finish. If you are painting the mural in your child's bedroom, you may need to find an alternative room for your child to sleep in, as this will take more than one day to complete. Start by painting the entire background. A horizon line is essential when deciding where to place objects in the background versus the foreground. Incorporate all your child's favorite characters such as Tinker Bell, Fawn, Silvermist and Fairy Mary characters from the Disney version. Use the classic green and purple wherever possible and include the whimsical trees and acorn homes that are depicted in the movie.

    Single Portrait

    • A single portrait of Tinker Bell can be painted anywhere in the room and is a striking yet simple way to create a mural. You can paint Tinker Bell as the focal point in the center of the wall in a cute pose for a dramatic effect. A more subtle idea is to paint Tinker Bell peeking out over one of the room's windows or curled around a door frame. This adds some whimsy without being too intrusive.

    Silhouette Mural

    • Consider painting the mural using silhouettes. This is an especially good idea for those who are less artistically inclined, as the mural does not need to include many intricate details. Draw Tinker Bell's outline on the wall and paint the entire figure in with one color. Use an overhead projector to trace you child's shadow onto the wall in a funny pose and paint it in the same color as Tinker Bell. When the mural is complete, it will appear as if your child and Tinker Bell are playing together on the wall.

    Vintage Tinker Bell

    • Find some old pictures of Tinker Bell from her Peter Pan days. Use the characters from Peter Pan and paint Tinker Bell on one of her old adventures, fighting with Captain Hook or caring for the Lost Boys. The bright colors of the original Tinker Bell/Peter Pan story are more varied than the standard pinks and purples of Disney's 21st century Tinker Bell merchandise. For this reason, a mural of this type would also do well in a daycare or nursery setting where a unisex look is more appealing.
