Prepare the walls for painting by filling any holes or cracks. Allow the filler to set and sand smooth with a medium-grade sandpaper. Apply masking tape to the edges of the walls, the ceiling and skirting boards, and cover the floor and furniture with dust sheets.
Paint the edges of the wall with a paintbrush, and apply a base coat to the rest of the wall with a roller for a smooth finish. Allow to dry for 4 to 6 hours before applying a second coat. Allow 24 hours for the second coat to dry and harden.
Soak up as much faux technique glaze as possible with a roller. Apply the glaze to the wall in a column approximately 2 feet wide. Use a leather faux finish corner stippling tool to apply the glaze to the corners of the wall where the roller cannot reach.
Dab a faux leather stippling brush onto the glazed area to create a mottled effect. Use a quick dabbing motion, changing the angle of the brush at each dab. Remove any buildup of paint from the brush with a lint-free rag as you work.
Move across the wall, applying columns of glaze and creating the leather effect with the stippling brush, until the whole wall is complete.
