Tape the area around the door trim with painter’s tape.
Apply the primer to the door, starting with the door’s panels, if the door has panels, and working out to the area between the panels. Apply primer to the frame of the door as well. Allow the primer to dry for at least 24 hours.
Paint the door’s panels with black, high-gloss interior oil paint. Work the paint into every corner evenly. Work from the top panels to the bottom panels.
Paint the areas between the panels. Paint the middle first, the top second, the center third, the bottom fourth, the left fifth and the right last.
Paint the interior of the door frame from top to bottom.
Paint the door trim from top to bottom. Start with the edges where the trim meets the wall, and paint inward to the trim that meets the door.
Allow the paint to dry completely. Apply a second coat of paint in the same manner.
