How to Darken Behr Gobi Desert Interior Paint

Behr's Gobi Desert color, also known as 710C-3, is a light neutral shade of pinkish taupe. This subtly hued paint falls under Behr's category of yellow-toned neutrals and easily coordinates with a wide array of other neutrals, browns or red-toned palettes. Although on its own this color is a versatile shade of paint, it may not be exactly what you want when you see it on your walls. If you have a can, or more, of Gobi Desert that looks too light for your overall room decor, you can darken it in a few simple steps.

Instructions

    • 1

Select a gray shade of interior latex paint as a darkening agent. Avoid choosing a black-gray as this will create a color that is too dark, losing the original hue of the Gobi Desert. The deeper the gray, the darker your paint will be.

    • 2

Pour the entire can of your Behr Gobi Desert paint into the 5-gallon bucket.

    • 3

Add your gray paint as a darkening agent. Slowly pour at least one-fourth of the can of gray paint into the bucket along with the Gobi Desert shade. Increase the amount for a darker color.

Attach the paint-stirring bit onto your power drill. Place the attachment into the paint mixture, holding the side of the bucket firmly. Turn on the drill. Stir the paint until it mixes completely. Evaluate your mixed shade. Add more of the gray paint if you want to achieve a darker color.
