How to Cover Pebble Sprayed Ceiling Paint

Instead of being smoothed out like many ceiling textures, pebble ceilings are left rough to form a pebble-like appearance. You can paint your pebble-sprayed ceiling to lessen the textured appearance, if you desire. However, you’ll have to make sure that the nap, the length of the fuzz on your roller, is at least between 3/4- and 1-inch-thick to properly paint the ceiling.

Instructions

    • 1

Remove the furniture from the room, if possible, and place a drop cloth on the floor. Open windows in the room and put the face mask on to cover your nose and mouth.

    • 2

Tape newspaper to the sides of the wall near the ceiling to prevent paint drips.

    • 3

Apply paint along the sides of the ceiling with the paintbrush to make a 2- to 3-inch border with the paint.

    • 4

Dip the roller into the paint and paint three-foot sections of ceiling at a time to cover the pebble texture. Overlap the paint into the new three-foot sections to prevent paint lines from forming.

    • 5

Allow the paint to dry for 24 hours and add another coat, if needed.
