Can You Use Latex Paint to Prime Boards?

When you buy a home, one of the first things you might want to do is redecorate it by painting. If you want to paint wooden board walls or the floorboards, you must treat them with the same care as any other kind of surface. This means applying primer before applying the paint. If you don't have primer, you can elect to use latex paint instead, as long as the paint is good and is applied evenly.

• Paintbrush

     Dip your paintbrush into the primer.

     Drag the paintbrush across the board. Avoid putting too much paint onto the wood. Like primer, you will want to apply a very thin layer to start.

     Allow the primer to dry. This should take about 10 to 20 minutes.

     Repeat Steps 1 through 3 one or two more times to complete priming the boards.
