How to Make Siding Look Like Brick

Oftentimes, siding on a house can make the facade appear plain and boring. Jazz up plain siding by making it look like brick. Instead of applying real brick or brick facade tiling onto the siding, save money by applying a faux finish that simulates this look. Materials needed to make siding look like brick can be purchased inexpensively at any hardware or home improvement store.

Instructions

    • 1

Fill a paint tray with light-beige outdoor latex paint. Coat a paint roller in the latex paint, then cover the entire siding surface with the beige paint. Allow the paint to dry for 12 to 18 hours.

    • 2

Fill a paint tray with rust-colored outdoor latex paint. Coat one side of a large rectangular sponge in the paint. Stamp the paint horizontally across the bottom of the siding wall, spacing the stamps one inch apart.

    • 3

Stamp a second row of rectangular shapes above the first row, positioning the middle of each second row brick stamp over the space of each first row brick stamp. This creates a staggered appearance that mimics real masonry.

    • 4

Repeat this process to cover the entire siding wall with stamped, staggered bricks. Allow the paint to dry for 12 to 18 hours.

    • 5

Fill a paint tray with a slightly lighter shade of rust-colored outdoor latex paint. Coat a round sponge with the paint.

    • 6

Lightly apply the lighter shade of paint over the individual bricks; this makes them look more three-dimensional. Allow the paint to dry for 12 to 18 hours.
