Instructions

    • 1

Select a color for your marble effect and purchase three color values of the chosen color. For example, if you want to create a gray marble, purchase slate, light gray and white latex paint.

    • 2

Apply the darkest color to the wall with a paint roller or large 6- to 8-inch handheld paintbrush; in this case, slate. Apply the paint in random, wavy strokes along the wall. Allow the paint to dry for 24 hours.

    • 3

Create a paint/glaze mixture for the medium and light colors. Mix one part glaze with three parts paint for each of the paint colors.

    • 4

Paint the medium and light paint/glaze mixtures on the wall with a sponge. Dip the sponge in the paint/glaze mixture and dab it onto the surface of the wall in a haphazard manner.

    • 5

Blend the colors together with a clean, damp paintbrush while they are still wet. Allow the wall to dry for 48 hours.

    • 6

Apply a coat of latex varnish to the surface of the wall with a handheld paintbrush. Apply the varnish in smooth, even strokes.
