How to Paint Your Home Wheat & Brown

Create a classic look for your home with a wheat and brown color scheme. These warm, neutral colors work with one another to create an eye-catching backdrop that is appropriate for either the interior or exterior of your home. Furnishings and decorative accents will pop against these colors when used inside; landscaping and outdoor accessories will stand out when this color scheme is used on a home's exterior.

Instructions

    • 1

Paint the interior walls one color and paint the trim another. For example, paint the walls brown and paint the moldings, window sills and any other trim wheat.

    • 2

Paint the siding on the exterior of your home one color and paint the accents the remaining color. For instance, paint the siding of your home wheat and paint the shutters, window frames and door frames brown.

    • 3

Apply one color on two walls and the other color on the remaining two walls. Paint the two side-by-side walls brown and the other two walls wheat. Alternatively, paint the walls opposite each other the same color.

    • 4

Feature one color on an accent wall and paint the rest of the walls the remaining walls. For example, apply brown paint to the largest wall or the wall that the main piece of furniture will rest on and paint the rest of the walls wheat.

    • 5

Apply one color to the front and back of the exterior of your home, and paint the sides of your home in the remaining color. For instance, paint the siding on the front and back of the home wheat and paint the siding on the sides of the home brown.
