Instructions

    • 1

Locate a large, white plastic bowl.

    • 2

Drill a 1/2-inch hole in the bottom of the bowl.

    • 3

Measure 2, 4, 6 and 8 inches away from the rim of the bowl on all sides. Make marks with a light-colored marker on the outside of the bowl. Connect the marks with evenly spaced lines around the outside of the bowl.

    • 4

Select large white feathers of the same length. Glue white feathers to the bottom edge of the bowl with the quills at the first marker line. Overlap the feathers' edges to create a full look and to hide all of the plastic. Glue all the way around the bottom circle until you reach the beginning.

    • 5

Glue a second row of feathers over the top of the first along the second line from the edge. Overlap for fullness and cover the plastic. Finish the second row. As the bowl curves you will need to trim back the quills to create the same effect as the first few rows. Continue until all of the plastic is covered.

    • 6

Attach a pendant light kit to create a light inside the shade. Hang the feather light from the wire. If you want to create a table lamp, simply replace the existing shade with the new feather shade over the existing lamp harp. Make sure your top hole is somewhat smaller so that the finial can lock the shade to the lamp.
