How to Mix Light Bulbs

If you enjoy reading, cooking, or performing any activity at night, then you probably are grateful for electric light bulbs. Light bulbs come in different types, from compact fluorescent to incandescent. Different light bulbs have different light outputs and wattage usage. However, as long as the light fixture can handle the wattage, mixing and matching different lights bulbs shouldn't be a problem.

Instructions

    • 1

Pick the types of light bulbs you want to mix, and make sure the light fixture can handle it. Most fixtures have a wattage allowance label on them that states what kind of light bulbs they can handle. Check this allowance to be sure your light bulbs don't go over it. The allowance label should be near the light socket.

    • 2

Remove the old light bulbs from the sockets.

    • 3

Place the new light bulbs into the sockets. Alternate the different bulbs if you want an even light in the room.
