Line the driveway with solar-powered garden lights. Push the lights into the soil to the recommended depth. Space the lights an even distance apart. Choosing solar-powered lights eliminates the need for digging in the yard to bury electrical wires, and it saves on power bills.
Place topiaries on either side of the front door. Light the topiaries with clear twinkle lights in the same way you light your Christmas tree. Choose lights that stay lit even if a bulb burns out, and make sure the lights are approved for exterior use.
Hang lighting from the porch. Choose Japanese lanterns, stars or party lights along the edge of the porch. Arrange the lights so they're evenly spaced and the cord easily reaches an exterior outlet. Keep extra lights on hand to replace those that wear out over time.
Use uplights to draw attention to specific exterior features. Place uplights in front of your prized rosebushes or a water feature, like a waterfall, pond or fountain. Use a low wattage to cast a soft glow over the featured item.
