How to Cover Roller Shades

Instructions

    • 1

Remove the roller shade from the frame on the wall. Set the shade on the floor with the side facing in, or out -- whichever side you wish to cover -- on top.

    • 2

Use the lint brush on the surface of the shade. Set the fabric -- wrong side facing up -- beside the shade. Use the lint brush on the surface of the fabric.

    • 3

Pour some laminating adhesive on the surface of the shade. Use the paint roller to evenly distribute the glue. Make sure that there are no bubbles on the surface.

    • 4

Measure the shade cloth with the tape measure. Add an additional inch to the width and height. Cut the fabric according to these dimensions.

    • 5

Starting with the bottom, slowly match the fabric up with the shade. Press your hands down on the fabric and chase away any pockets of air inside by pressing down and smoothing them toward the sides. Trim off the excess fabric from the sides.

    • 6

Reattach the clutch to the frame via the instructions that came with your roller kit or call the company that installed the frame for detailed instructions.
