# How to Make Decor Lights Yourself
Things You'll Need
- For String Pendant Shade:
- Large bouncy balls
- Craft glue
- Hemp string
- Drop cloth
- Permanent black marker
- Ball inflating needle (available at sporting goods stores)
- Light fixture and hardware kit (you can use the one for a paper lantern)
- For Simple Umbrella Lantern:
- Round paper lantern
- Drink umbrellas
- Glue
- Light fixture and hardware kit (usually comes with paper lantern)

Draw a circle at the inflation hole of a bouncy ball to mark off the area where you will insert the light fixture.

Pour some glue into a bowl. Rub glue all over the hemp string and wrap it around the ball in random patterns so the entire ball is covered by a dense layer. Do not wrap string around the marked circle.

Touch up any loose areas by applying more glue with your fingers. Allow the glue to dry about two days. Follow steps 1 to 4 for the remaining balls.

Deflate the ball by inserting the inflating needle into the hole and squeezing the air out. Pull out the deflated ball, leaving just the string.

Set up the electrical components using the lighting fixture instructions. Insert light bulb and hang the lamps from the ceiling.
Simple Umbrella Lantern

Puncture the paper lantern with an umbrella pick and push down. Secure the umbrella with glue.

Continue inserting and gluing different colored umbrellas. To avoid overlapping, start from one point and work out around it.

Set up electrical components using the lighting fixture instructions. Insert light bulb and hang from ceiling.
