Country Ceiling Lighting

Country home decor and design usually means natural wood, vintage fixtures and antique decor items. In general, designers should consider how a ceiling light fixture will fit in with the decor theme, so country fixtures should have some sort of vintage or rustic element. Country style also has many traditional style elements, so a metal chandelier with curling designs wouldn't be out of place in a country home.
  1. Vintage Fixtures

    • One way to get a country look is to buy a vintage ceiling light fixture at a flea market or antique store. However, many vintage light fixtures can be missing parts like chains or electrical connections, but you can usually purchase replacement parts at home improvement stores. Vintage light fixtures can also be repainted, polished or decorated. There are also vintage-inspired and country-style ceiling fixtures available at home decor retailers.

    Rustic Fixtures

    • Country decor also has a rustic flair, so any light fixtures that you would see in a mountain cabin or other rustic room would likely also work for a country home. Rustic light fixtures use natural wood and dark-stained wood embellished with carvings of animal or nature, but rustic fixtures can also be made of metal. Usually, rustic fixtures use dark metal like brushed bronze or wrought iron.

    Wooden Fixtures

    • Wood ceiling lighting fixtures are also common in country style rooms. A wooden wagon wheel chandelier is one example of a wooden light fixture for a country style home, but other fixtures can include carved wood or turned wood. Wooden light fixtures can be painted to match the room.

    Eclectic Fixtures

    • One of the fun things about choosing a country decor is that you can have an eclectic style. When combing flea markets for that perfect ceiling lighting fixture, keep an eye out for artisan-made fixtures made out of old metal signs or other antiques. You can even make your own hanging light fixture by drilling holes in the metal tops of antique glass Mason jars and stringing lights through them.
