Take the kitchen utensil you have selected -- the vintage bundt pan, pastry tin or colander -- to the hardware store and select a lamp kit to fit the opening of the pan or the size of the tin. A vintage pan looks cooler, but you can use a new pan if that's what's available.
Cut a hole in the center of the colander or pastry tin with tin snips to fit the lamp fixture. If the metal is too hard to cut you may need to drill a hole; wear protective goggles when drilling through metal.
Position the lamp fixture in the hole and secure it so the bulb threads are inside the curve of the tin or colander. The "lampshade" will hang upside down once it is finished. Run a thin line of silicone gel around the edge of the fixture where it meets the metal to secure it if it is loose. Let the silicone dry.
Follow the directions in the lamp kit to attach the wire and plug if they are not already attached. Screw a bulb into the fixture and plug in the lamp to test it.
Remove the bulb and hang the lamp in place. If you have to install a ceiling hook, use either a screw hook directly into a ceiling stud or a butterfly anchor in a drywall ceiling. Use a stud finder to locate ceiling studs, and drill a pilot hole for the hook. Screw the hook into the stud. Or drill a hole in a drywall ceiling and insert a butterfly anchor with a ceiling hook into the hole. The anchor unfolds once it is in the ceiling and spreads the weight of the hanging object so it can be hung safely. The hook remains below the ceiling so you can loop the lamp holder over it.
Reinsert the bulb, and your culinary pendant is ready to brighten up the kitchen.
