Outside Lighting for Cabins

Cabins are often located in wooded areas away from neighbors and main roads. If you have a cabin that you use for relaxation or vacationing, outside lighting can create a bright look and add a measure of security. There are several styles of lighting you can choose from to add illumination to your cabin.
  1. Rustic Look

    • If you want outside lighting that harmonizes with your cabin's rustic look, consider fixtures that use synthetic materials to create the look of real wood, or ones that are made from real tree branches.

    Solar Power

    • Using solar-powered outside light fixtures allows you to add light to your property without raising your electric bill. You can use hanging fixtures or wall sconces on either side of your door to light your entrance, and landscaping lights to help make it easier to navigate the pathway to your front door at night.

    Lanterns

    • Lanterns maintain your cabin's rustic look and can add a unique touch to your exterior lighting. If you use oil lanterns, be sure to put them far enough away from your cabin to reduce the chances of starting a fire. Electric lanterns are convenient and safe, and you can use rechargeable batteries to save money.

    Hanging Candles

    • Hanging candles offer the glow of a lantern. You can use glass- or metal-exterior candle holders to protect your candles from the wind and keep them from making contact with your cabin. Hanging candles can be placed at your front door, down your walking path or on your cabin patio.
