DIY Miniature LED Tree Lights

An LED light tree is a miniature tree that has LED lights instead of leaves. Such trees can be purchased pre-made; but making your own LED tree allows for more customization. LED light trees are popular not only at Christmastime, but all year round. An LED control module helps control the lights; dim them or set exciting lighting patterns. LEDs produce very little heat, so there is no need to worry about them becoming a fire hazard.

Instructions

    • 1

Locate a tree branch that has many smaller branches coming from it. Alternatively, use several tree branches of similar size. The branches should be between 2 and 3 feet tall; depending on the desired size of the LED tree.

    • 2

Arrange the branches in a stand. A vase can be used as a stand. The vase should be large enough to easily support the weight of the branches.

    • 3

Arrange LED light string lights over the branches. The lights can be wrapped around the branches or draped across them to create different effects. Secure the LEDs in difficult places with transparent tape.

    • 4

Attach the LED string light(s) to a LED control module. The control module is useful for controlling several LED string lights. Many control modules offer light pattern programs, such as flashing, auto dim and other programs.

    • 5

Plug the LED control module into the outlet.
