Instructions

Turn on the light fixture that you will replace with the track lighting. After confirming that the light works, turn off the power to the area of the house where you will install the lighting. Do this prior to starting work to ensure that any wiring mistakes do not result in damage to the wiring or harm to anyone installing the track lighting. Turn the power off using the home's circuit breaker.

Choose a location for the new track lighting and install the tracks using the drill and included mounting hardware. Choose a location near where the old fixture was installed as you will use the old wiring for the new track lighting. Additionally, take care not to install the tracks near curtains or any other flammable objects as the heat from the lights can become intense enough to ignite flammable objects.

Remove the existing light fixture and connect the track lighting wiring. Connect the existing wiring to the new track lighting by matching the wire colors. It may be necessary to cut or strip some of the wires. Secure the connections with the wire connectors and cover each connection with electrical tape for protection. Use the drill and mounting hardware supplied to secure everything in place.

Connect the light fixtures to the track and insert light bulbs. Consult the documentation provided with the track lighting kit as the fixtures can attach to the track in a variety of different ways. Test the new lighting by restoring power to that area of the home and turning the light switch on.
