Simple to make, these paper decorations can match any color scheme. Attach the "flowers" to simple embroidery hoops, to turn these simple or stunning ceiling decorations into a beautiful chandelier. Instructions

    • 1

Lay 10 pieces of tissue paper on top of one another, on a flat, working service. Use a single, solid color, alternate colors or patterned tissue paper -- or mix together patterned and solid tissue paper for a custom look.

    • 2

Fold the tissue paper in large, accordion style folds. Fold once towards you, flip over the paper and fold once away from you. Continue until all of the paper is folded. Place down on the working surface.

    • 3

Cut two lengths of curling ribbon, about 1 foot long. Tie the curling ribbons around the center of the folded tissue paper, side by side. Allow the ends to hang down.

    • 4

Cut the edges of the paper with a sharp pair of scissors. Cut into a rounded edge for rounded pom-pom petals or into a V-shape for pointed pom-pom edges.

    • 5

Carefully unfold the layers of tissue paper. Fold the layers towards you and away from you to create a ball-shape.

    • 6

Measure the width of light-fixture over which you wish to hang the pom-pom chandelier. Purchase an embroidery hoop at least 2 inches wider than the width of the light fixture.

    • 7

Place the embroidery hoop on a spare piece of cardboard. Spray paint the hoop and allow it to dry completely. Paint in slow, thin, even stroke. Inspect the hoop for any missed spots. Add a second coast if necessary.

    • 8

Tie the ball to the embroidery hoop, using the pieces of ribbon extending from the center of the pom-pom. Adjust the pom-pom ball so it sits a few inches below the bottom of the light fixture to reduce fire risk.

    • 9

Screw two eye hooks into the ceiling on either side of the of the light fixture at least 1 inch from the edge of the light, but not wider than the embroidery hoop’s diameter. Tie fishing line to the top of the embroidery hoop. Tie on the three more lengths, spacing them equidistant. Tie a loop into each end of the fishing line.

    • 10

Attach the fishing line loops to the eye hooks, placing two loops on each hook. Adjust if necessary so the pom-pom hovers in a central location below the light bulb.
