How to Add Tassels to Fabric Chandelier Shades

Add some flair to your chandelier shades with a row of sassy tassels. Tassels bring a lighthearted accent to a room that is usually more formal. Match the color of the tassel to the shade and place the band of the trim inside the shade for a subtle look. For a bolder look, use a contrasting color and place the band on the outside.

Instructions

    • 1

Measure the circumference of the bottom of the shade. Measure the inside or outside depending on whether you will place the band at the top of the tassel trim on the inside or the outside of the shade.

    • 2

Cut a length of trim 1 inch longer than the circumference you measured.

    • 3

Hot glue the trim around the inside or the outside of the bottom of the shade. The bottom edge of the band of the trim should be even with the bottom of the shade, if the band is on the outside, and just above the bottom, if the band is on the inside. The tassels should hang down below the shade. Fold under 1/2 inch on the end of the band to create a finished edge. Overlap the folded end of the trim over the first end, 1/2 inch.
