Leave the wine bottle in soapy water for 30 minutes to loosen the label. Peel off the label and scrub it with a nylon scrubber to remove the label’s residue. Wash the bottle, rinse it and allow it to dry.
Wrap masking tape around the bottle about 1 inch up from the base.
Cut through the masking tape to remove the base of the bottle, using a rotary cutting tool or tile cutter. You may also ask a professional tile layer to cut through the bottle.
Sand the cut edge of the wine bottle to make it smooth. Start with a rough-grit sandpaper and work up to finer grits until the cut edge is safe to touch.
Disconnect the power to your current light fixture. Turn the light switch on and off to verify that the power is disconnected.
Remove the current light fixture, using a screwdriver. Disconnect the light fixture’s wires from the ceiling box.
Thread the ends of the new wires, included with the canopy, through the cut-off base of the bottle and through the neck, then through the light canopy. The light bulb socket should be inside the bottle.
Attach the wires to the ceiling box, using the included wire nuts.
Attach the light canopy to the ceiling, using the screws and the mounting bracket that come with the canopy.
Screw a light bulb into the socket.
Reconnect the power. The lamp is now ready to use.
