How to Adjust a Motion Sensor Wall Switch

Motion sensor wall switches can be a real convenience. By switching on the lights in a room when motion is detected, they save you from fumbling for a light switch when it's dark. Adjusting the sensor properly is important -- you don't want it too sensitive or have it set so that it doesn't go on when you need it. Fortunately, manufacturers make it easy for you to adjust the sensitivity of the motion sensor.

Locate the small rotary control marked "S."

    • 3

Turn the switch counterclockwise to decrease the motion sensor's sensitivity.

    • 4

Turn the switch clockwise to increase its sensitivity.

    • 5

Test the sensor's sensitivity by walking across the room or space in your normal manner. Replace the cover when you're satisfied with the setting.
