Remove the chains from your flower basket. Paint the basket a color to match the labels of the records you’ve chosen, if desired, or black to be camouflaged against the records themselves.
Drill two small holes in a vinyl record. Position them directly across from one another, very close to opposite edges. Use a pair of pliers to open a jump ring and slide it through one of the holes in the record. Thread the open jump ring around the top tier of your basket, as well, then use pliers to close the ring, hanging the record from the top tier.
Drill a small hole in a second vinyl record, positioned the same distance from the edge as the previous holes. Open another jump ring and use it to join this record to the bottom hole of the record you just hung from the basket.
Repeat this process, working your way around the top tier of the basket until you have your desired number of records hanging from it. This will depend on the size of the basket. Slide the dangling records around the top of your basket until they are spaced as you please around the circle. Use a small amount of hot glue to secure the jump rings in place along the top tier of the basket. Let dry.
Repeat the same process to add dangling records to the bottom tier of the basket. Use fewer two-record hanging pieces, as the tier will be smaller and cannot accommodate as many. Space them with approximately as much distance as you spaced those on the top tier, but arrange them to fill in the gaps between the top tier of records. Secure with hot glue. Let dry.
Unscrew the cover from your old ceiling light. Hold the finished chandelier up to the place where you will attach it, and mark entrance points with chalk where you will attach the hooks. Remove the chandelier.
Use a drill to make holes for the ceiling hooks. Screw hooks into the holes securely, using as many as necessary depending on the size and weight of your final chandelier, and hang your chandelier on them to cover and complement the ceiling light.
