How to Measure Lampshades for Stiffel Lamps

Whether you’re bored with your Stiffel’s present shade or just want to swap it out for a newer replacement, proper measuring will mean the difference between a shade that fits the lamp like a glove and one that looks awkward. One important rule to remember is the sequence of the measurements. Whenever you place an order for a Stiffel lampshade, always list the top measurement first, followed by the bottom, finishing with the side or slant.

Instructions

    • 1

Remove the lampshade from the Stiffel lamp. Set the lampshade on a clean work surface.

    • 2

Measure the width at the top of the lampshade in inches. Stretch a measuring tape from one side of the lampshade to the other at the widest point. Jot down the measurement.

    • 3

Flip the lampshade over, bottom facing up. Measure the width of the bottom of the lampshade at its widest point using the measuring tape. Jot down the result.

    • 4

Turn the lampshade upside-right and measure one of the sides, or slant, of the lampshade. Stretch the measuring tape from top to bottom and record the measurement.
