DIY Hanging Candle Light Fixture

Hanging candle light fixtures is a fun way to add instant romance to a setting. Your light fixture base can be as simple as a section of driftwood. This type of fixture is more about the simplicity of the candles and the use of an arrangement that can be re-used as often as you like. The larger the base the more styles of candles you can fit onto the base, the brighter your light will become. Allowing candle wax to build up over time will add to the ambiance.

Instructions

    • 1

Place a wide driftwood or aged barn plank on a work table. Brush the plank to remove any dirt or insects. Some pieces can be boiled or dipped to make sure that any insects in the wood are gone.

    • 2

Drill two holes 3 to 4 inches apart 2 inches from the each end of the board. Slide a washer onto an eye bolt. Press the bolt through one hole on the board. Add another washer and a nut. Tighten the nut with a wrench. Repeat for each remaining hole so that all the eyes are upward facing.

    • 3

Cut four pieces of lightweight chain 12 inches long. Connect one end of one chain to the eye bolt using an S hook. Connect the second chain to the adjacent eye bolt the same way. Hook the two chains together using an S hook. Repeat for the other end of the board.

    • 4

Measure the length of the board between the eye bolt ends. Screw two large screw eyes into the ceiling this distance apart. If you do not screw into studs, use wall anchors to help support the fixture.

    • 5

Cut two pieces of chain to the length you want. Attach one end of the chain to the S hook holding the two chains. Attach the second end to the ceiling screw eye using another S hook.

    • 6

Nail finish nails through the bottom of the wood plank so that 1-inch of the nail points upward through the top of the plank at each position where you want to install a candle. Press the center bottom of pillar candles into the nail. The nail will hold the candle in place.
