Over the bed LED light systems are wall mounted above the bed. This style of lighting will work well with a freestanding bed with a wood or metal headboard. Choose between one or two lights on the track. Each light is adjustable, which means you can angle it at a comfortable height. Finishes you can expect to find include bronze, brushed nickel and black. Look to the existing metallic finishes in your bedroom to help you select a light that will mesh with the overall look of the room.
For larger headboards like fabric or upholstered ones, a swing arm LED light is an ideal option. The light can be installed next to the headboard, on both sides for the sake of symmetry or on one side if only there is only one reader. Once installed, swing the swing arm model into place. Once you are finished reading for the night, swing the light back into its place alongside the headboard. The swing arm LED lights come in a range of metallic finishes.
Most headboard LED lights have a goose neck, a long bendable neck, which allows you to bend the light into your preferred position. While many of the goose neck lights are wall mounted, there are also freestanding varieties available. A freestanding goose neck lamp is ideal for situations when you require concentrated light elsewhere for a project. The goose neck LED is also favorable for when you have guests in your home as the light can be moved anywhere you have an outlet.
Another option is a clip-on LED light that can be clipped directly to your headboard, or if you have chosen one of the above bed designs, you can hang it slightly lower than the top edge of the headboard and feed the lights through the opening between slats for a wood headboard. Hospitals and hotels will attach the LED reading lights directly to the headboard, and while this is an option, you might want to consider whether you wish to permanently alter your headboard.
