How to Hang an Ikea Smila Wall Lamp

Smila is the brand name of a line of whimsical children's lamps sold by IKEA, an international home furnishings retailer. Most items purchased from IKEA require full or partial assembly and instructions are included in the package. Smila wall lamps include assembly instructions that depict images instead of text. These instructions should be followed in the exact order as they appear.

  Check the assembly instruction sheet for the number of screws and types of screws required for installation. Make sure the screws are included in the package. If screws are missing, contact IKEA's customer service department.

  Attach the wall plate to the wall with the light socket facing you. Insert the screws through the holes and then screw them securely to the wall with a screwdriver.

  Screw in the light bulb.

  Attach the decorative faceplate to the wall plate by sliding it onto the brackets. Then insert screws through the holes in the faceplate and screw them in to secure them to the wall plate.

  Thread the wall cord through cable clips before plugging in the lamp if you have installed clips on the wall. Cable clips must be purchased separately from the lamp. IKEA recommends installing them to keep the cord out of the way so that children will not pull on the cord or trip on it.
