How to Make a Cloche Chandelier

Beautiful glass cloches -- found at garden supply stores -- are traditionally used to shield late or early season plants and flowers from the cold. The cloches make striking chandeliers and will add style and charm to a dark corner of the room or over the dining room table. By using a pillar candle for a light source, the cloche chandelier will deliver soft lighting and atmosphere that is perfect for weddings or parties.

Things You'll Need

Instructions

    • 1

Measure around the open edge of the cloche with the tape measure and add 6 inches. Cut a piece of wire to the measurement with the nippers.

    • 2

Twist the wire into three small evenly spaced loops along the length of the wire. Wrap the wire around the top open edge of the cloche. Twist the ends of the wire together tightly and cut off any excess wire with the nippers. Glue the wire to the cloche with the epoxy glue. Let the glue dry for 24 hours.

    • 3

Cut three 36-inch lengths of 24-gauge wire with the wire nippers. Insert the ends of the wire lengths into the wire loops around the edge of the cloche. Twist the wire ends to secure them to the loops. Twist the opposite ends of the three wire lengths together.

Screw the cup hook into the ceiling. Pour the sand into the bottom of the cloche. Insert the pillar candle in the cloche, balancing it in the sand, and hook the wires over the hook to hang the cloche chandelier.
