Gather several long strings of white fairy lights. The length and number of strings depends on the size of your entry and how dense you want your canopy.
Test the lights to make sure they all work properly by plugging them in. Replace any non-working lights.
Hang the lights depending on your ceiling or porch and the effect you want. Run many parallel strings along the area of the ceiling or between two points, and let the tails hang down to the floor to form a curtain.
Hang a loop from the ceiling in the center of the entry, and thread lights through it in alternating directions to form a giant chandelier. Run each string to a corner of the ceiling and attach it there, letting the string cascade down slightly in a wide loop. Continue attaching the lights in a circular fan pattern.
Gather several large branch bunches for a rustic canopy. Tie them together in the center and at several other points if necessary. Wrap string lights through them sparsely for a rustic chic look. Tie three long pieces of fishing line to each bunch, and tie the pieces together so the branches are suspened from them. Hang the bunches from the ceiling.
