DIY Chandelier Frame

Chandeliers add a great touch to any room in the house. However, the price tag of most chandeliers may make you reconsider the addition. Creating and designing your own chandelier is inexpensive and allows your personality to shine. A do-it-yourself wire chandelier is easy to make and you can decorate it with any desired beads.

Instructions

    • 1

Gather a piece of flexible wire and create a circle for the frame of the chandelier. The diameter is up to you.

    • 2

Wrap about 5 more pieces of wire perpendicularly around the one circle once it has been created. Wrap the additional pieces so they wind in and out of the circle.

    • 3

Use wire scissors to cut 10 to 15 more pieces of wire, each about 6 inches long. Create a hook shape on each piece of wire by bending the tops.

    • 4

Hook each piece of 6-inch wire to the circle. Space the pieces out evenly.

    • 5

Tie four equal-length pieces of ribbon, string or fishing line to four points on the circle, each equally distant from each other. Then, tie the other ends of the ribbons, strings or fishing line to the base of the light fixture hanging from the ceiling, which will be the light source for the chandelier.

    • 6

Decorate the chandelier with large, glistening beads or crystals. String together about 10 to 20 strings of the beads you wish to use. There should be the same number of strings of beads as there are hanging wires. Wrap one piece of hanging wire around one string of beads. If the wire will not hold the beads, bend the bottom end of each piece of hanging wire to make another hook, and attach the strings of beads to the hooks at the bottom of each hanging wire.
