Instructions

    • 1

Illuminate a glass block window from the outside passing through to the inside by installing outdoor spotlights beneath the window. Position the spotlights so they aim directly at the window. Use standard white light, or add several spotlights with color for a festive holiday occasion.

Place florescent tube lighting along the back of the glass block window to illuminate it from the inside, making the lighting effect visible from the outside. Mount hooks from the ceiling and hang the tube lighting vertically. Put one tube over each section of glass block or space them further apart, depending on your preference.

Install lighting for the glass block window during its building process. This allows unobstructed viewing from either side as the lighting is built in. Use a kit that’s specifically designed for lighting glass blocks, which consist of track systems installed between the glass blocks. Thread LED ribbon lighting strips or fiber-optic cables between the track system to complete the lighting.

Use rope lights for an inexpensive, quick solution for lighting your glass block window. Glue rope light clips along the caulk lines of the block window. Clip the rope lights into place and turn on to illuminate. Use exterior rope lights if you're lighting the window from the outside.
