Check the wiring in the ceiling with a voltage tester to ensure that it is dead. If you're replacing an existing fixture with the chandelier, turning off the power to the circuit is the first step you would've taken. You can skip this step if the chandelier is not a replacement fixture, because the electrical cable isn't wired to your main electrical box until the project is complete.
Join the end of the white wire from the ceiling to the white wire from the chandelier, and twist them together with a pair of pliers. Slide a plastic connector cap over the wires, and twist them together.
Connect the black wire from the chandelier to the black wire from the electrical cable, using the same process you used to connect the white wires.
Wrap the bare copper wire from the electrical cable (the ground wire) around the ground screw on the chandelier. Tighten the ground screw to secure the wire.
Connect the end of the ground wire from the electrical cable to the ground wire from the chandelier with a plastic connector cap. The ground wire from the chandelier may be green or bare.
Slide the wiring into the electrical box that is inside the ceiling and screw the canopy onto the ceiling. The canopy is the plate that covers the electrical box.
