There’s just something about those old vintage lamp shades that catches your eye and makes for an interesting conversation piece. Vintage lamps are expensive to buy, but you can make your own vintage-looking lamp shade with some printable fabric and a little creativity. Some examples of great vintage designs for lamp shades include classic brand icons, old newspaper articles and advertisements.

      Scan your vintage design into the computer and set it to print the images for your shade. Use color or black and white, and print multiple images for larger shades.

      Print the images first onto plain paper. Test lay the images over your entire lamp shade, from top to bottom, to make sure they are a perfect fit.

      Set the printable fabric into your household printer according to the manufacturer's placement directions. The direction the paper goes in varies from printer to printer. Print the images onto printable fabric and set the fabric onto the lamp shade.

      Secure the images using the sticky-backed shade edging from the lamp shade kit.
