How to Make a Comfy Chic Living Room Work

Rearrange the furniture in the living room for a comfy chic environment. Move the furniture pieces, such as the sofa, coffee table, love seat, reading chair and end tables, closer together to create a comfy atmosphere. If you keep the furniture spread too far apart, the living room loses its comfy chic feel. Set the sofa in the center of the room and place the coffee table in front of it. Arrange love seats or reading chairs to the side of the sofa, with the end tables on either end.

Set a rug beneath the coffee table. If you have hardwood, laminate, tile or marble floors, a rug gives the living room a more comfy feel by adding softness and warmth.

Add floor or table lamps to the living room. Lamps offer a more comfy ambiance than if you were to use ceiling lighting from recessed lights or ceiling fans.

Hang curtains over the windows. Dress the windows in such a way that the curtains hang straight down either side of the window. This gives the room a lofty look for a comfy chic ambiance.

Decorate the living room walls with picture frames to add instant charm. Create a wall collage using assorted picture frames and mix in one or two mirrors or wall art to embellish the collage.

Add sofa accessories, such as throw pillows and a blanket, onto the couch. Pay attention to the colors you use to keep the living room chic. For instance, decorate a white couch with red paisley throw pillows to add character, and pair it with a red blanket that you throw over one arm of the sofa.

Stack a pile of books on one side of the coffee table. Set a low vase full of fresh flowers on the other end of the table. The books give the room a comfy theme by making it look like a reading room, while the flowers can work into the color scheme or serve as a contrast color for the room.
