How to Stack a Wire Locker Shelf

Locate appropriate wire locker shelving for the dimensions of your locker. Measure length, width and height of the storage space, and purchase enough locker shelves to utilize this space but still leave room on top if jackets or book bags will be stored there.

Install the locker shelving according to the manufacturer's instructions. This often involves snapping the various pieces together or inserting the legs of the shelf into the wire shelf top. Stack the shelves in the locker.

Attach the feet of each shelf to the shelf top on which they rest using the cable ties. Loop the cable ties around the feet of the shelf and around one or two loops of wire in the top of the shelf below, making sure to attach cable ties on all four corners of each shelf. Repeat for each shelving unit. Cut the excess from the cable ties using the scissors.

Attach the wire brackets to the rear and sides of any shelves which will be used to hold heavier items like tools or very heavy books. Most wire brackets merely slip over the wire, but some may have to be clamped down on the wire using a pliers.

Position the brackets against the locker wall in their intended positions, and mark the screw hole in each wire bracket on the metal wall of the shelf using the marker. Drill small metal screws into each bracket using the drill. Drill through the shelf and into wood blocks or wood studs behind the locker for increased weight capacity.
