Instructions

    • 1

Measure the length of each wall in the room. Diving the total measurement of each wall by 18 inches. This determines the number of strips needed for the wall. For example, if the wall measures 162 inches, divide 162 inches by 18 inches to determine that you will need 9 metal strips and 9 wood strips to cover the wall.

    • 2

Sand the wall surface with 100-grit sandpaper. This creates a rough surface that will help the glue to adhere to the wall.

    • 3

Line the back of the first wood strip with construction adhesive. Apply a generous amount of adhesive to the strip, and press the strip into the corner of the wall. Use a level to determine the strip is inserted correctly, and run your hand over the strip firmly to adhere the strip to the wall.

Line the back of the first sheet metal strip with construction adhesive. Apply a generous amount of adhesive to the strip, and press the strip directly next to the previously installed wood strip. Use a level to determine the strip is inserted correctly, and run your hand over the sheet metal strip firmly to adhere the strip to the wall.

Repeat steps 3 and 4 until the entire wall surface is covered. Measure windows, light switches, and permanent structures and cut areas from the strips to correspond to the size and position of these items. If the structure is located where a metal strip will be placed, use metal clippers to cut the metal strip. If the structure is located where a wood strip will be placed, use a hand saw to cut out the area from the wood strip.
