Create a comfy corner reading nook. Keep size in mind when selecting the furniture you will use and pick pieces that will not take up all the space. If you have a lot of room in which to work, try a settee, reclining armchair, cushioned bench or chaise lounge. If space is more limited, try a smaller armchair or a rocking chair. Add touches such as a potted plant, floor lamp and accent table.
Set up a little corner dining area. This is an especially good solution for a small kitchen or tiny apartment that lacks a formal eating space. Look online or in furniture stores for bistro table sets. Or build or hire someone to build for you a built-in table in the corner. Make it even more efficient by making it collapsible so you can fold it out of the way when you're not eating.
A mini corner office can be a good place to do the bills or get some work done away from the office, or where your kids can get schoolwork done. There are desks made specifically to fit into corners. Purchase one with plenty of drawers for storage so that clutter on the desk won't become an eyesore that detracts from the room. Don't forget a desk lamp to read by.
Turn the corner into a closet. Put in racks of shelves, which you can find in home improvement and home furnishing stores. Place a hutch or armoire with plenty of storage in the corner. Mount shelves or bring in a corner shelving unit for storing books and odds and ends. If you want to keep your makeshift closet hidden from view, use a hanging curtain, folding screen or other room divider.
