Measure the length of the area where you want to install the storage shelves with a tape measure. Measure the height of the area where you plan to install the storage shelves. Allow 24 inches between each shelf.
Cut the hardwood boards to fit the length measurements using a table saw. To avoid warping, use a hardwood such as oak.
Sand the edges of each board with 600-grit sandpaper, and then graduate to 800-grit, 1000-grit and then 1200-grit sandpaper. This will smooth out the edges of the shelf from the saw.
Place two decorative shelf brackets on the bottom of each self. Secure the brackets to the bottom of the shelf with the screws supplied with the brackets.
Place the first shelf in the highest location where you plan to install the shelves. Place a level on the shelf and then position the shelf so it rests level on the wall. Mark the mounting holes on the mounting bracket onto the wall.
Drill holes large enough for wall anchors into the wall and then pound the wall anchors into the wall with a hammer.
Place the shelf over the anchors and then secure the shelf to the anchors with the screws supplied with the bracket.
Measure 24 inches down from the first shelf and install the second shelf just as you installed the first. Repeat this with each additional shelf.
