How to Change a Picture Window from Transparent to White

One of the features of Windows 7 is Aero Desktop Experience. This feature controls visual options that, when enabled, enhance your computer’s looks. One of the customizable options in Aero Desktop Experience is window color. If you don’t like program windows being transparent (e.g., picture program windows or folder windows), you can change them to another color, such as white.

Instructions

    • 1

Click on the "Start" menu (the Windows-logo button on the lower-left-hand corner of the screen) and select “Control Panel.”

    • 2

Choose “Appearance and Personalization” from the list of options and then select “Personalization.”

    • 3

Click on the “Window Color” link at the bottom of the window and then click on the white-colored button.

    • 4

Click to uncheck the “Enable transparency” check box and then click on the “Save changes” button. All your program windows -- including picture windows -- are now changed from transparent to white.
