What Paint Goes With a Pink Bathtub?

A pink bathtub presents a unique decorating challenge. The two main styles of decor that coordinate well with a bathtub in this color include Art Deco and romantic. Instead of trying to hide or minimize a pink tub, you can embrace it and make the most of this color by carefully choosing the right color for your walls.
  1. White and Black

    • If an Art Deco theme appeals to you, white and black are excellent colors for this design scheme. Paint the majority of the walls white with a crisp, clean and shiny finish (either semi or full gloss latex paint.) Then, tape off a small 1- to 2-inch stripe through the center of the room and paint this stripe black. You can finish the effect by choosing white and black floor tile, preferably in a checkerboard pattern, and by using bold Art Deco-inspired bathroom accessories with their stair-step detail and clean lines in bright chrome.

    Rose and Other Pinks

    • A light pink tub can be offset with a dark rose wall color. Most shades of pink will coordinate well with a pink tub and can be used to create a romantic atmosphere. Because pink can have varying tones of purple, blue and red, it is best to try to match the color of the pink tub first, and then go either a few shades lighter or darker for the wall color. Avoid mixing and matching pinks that have different tones, as this can create a visually jarring effect. Select a shower curtain in a lush, large-scale floral that includes the same pink of your bathtub and draw paint inspiration from other colors in the print.

    Pastel Colors

    • Pastel paint colors can also be used to create a romantic styled bathroom. A pale light blue color on the walls can be further enhanced by choosing a pale blue shower curtain and pale blue rugs. A light green color is an excellent contrasting color for a pink tub. Make sure that the pastels you pick have the same underlying tone to them. For example, if the pink has a lot of blue tones, then light blue would be ideal. If the pink has more purple tones to it or red, then a light yellow would work well.

    Neutral Colors

    • Neutral colors can also be used to create a romantic atmosphere in a bathroom. Shades of ivory and very light beige can be incorporated on the walls. Ivory and other neutrals will work best with pink that has a warm reddish undertone, and not a cool, blue undertone. For pinks with cooler tones, choose white for the walls instead so you are not mixing your color tone groups in one room.
