How to Loft Your Desk

With a loft desk, the office space is located under a bed that's elevated. You can create this sort of setup yourself, using a bunk bed frame and a regular desk. You'll need to pay attention to lighting and storage under the bed, to make sure the space is functional. This sort of space can work well in a child's room, dorm room or spare room that must work as a guest room and office.

Instructions

    • 1

Set up the bunk bed frame in your bedroom or spare room. Place a mattress and bedding in the top frame of the bunk bed, but leave the bottom area open.

    • 2

Set up your desk under the bunk bed, where the bottom mattress was meant to go.

    • 3

Add a short desk lamp to provide light, as it can get dark under the bed. Don't use any lamp tall enough to be too near the mattress above, or any bedding that may hang down into the desk area.

    • 4

Place file cabinets and other office storage next to the desk, so you'll have all your office supplies in one spot.
