Red & Gold Wall Painting Ideas

When you’re painting with two colors, think of fun and whimsical ways to showcase them. Red and gold, for example, can be used in a room in ways a lot more creative than simply painting a coat of each color on the walls. Try a few eye catching and inventive red and gold wall painting ideas.
  1. Original Art

    • Hang one or a number of glass-less photo frames on the wall. They could all match perfectly, or you could use frames of various sizes and materials. Hang them in any arrangement you like, such as a straight line or a random grouping. Then, use red and gold to paint a design or picture on the wall inside the frames. Paint a lattice print, some random shapes, a geometric pattern, polka dots, flowers, sunbursts or stars.

    Nice View

    • A really creative option is painting a mural on the wall that prominently features red and gold. Hire a professional artist to paint it, use a simple do-it-yourself mural kit or try it freehand. Paint a garden full of flowers blooming in reds and golds, an underwater scene showing red fish and gold fish, a desert sunset with a red and gold sky or trees full of birds such as cardinals, rosefinches and goldfinches.

    Lovely Bands

    • Red and gold striping can be done in several ways. Make them horizontal, diagonal or vertical. Paint them on every wall in the room or on just one lone accent wall for an unexpected pop of color. Instead of just red and gold, paint stripes in two or three different tints of each color to add depth and drama. For red, use crimson shades such as scarlet, ruby and burgundy. For gold, use saffron, amber and sand.

    Color Duo

    • Try a two-tone red and gold treatment. Paint the bottom half of the walls red and the top half gold or vice versa. Tailor the two hues you use to fit the room’s purpose. For a little girl’s bedroom, use a soft pinkish red and a pale gold; for a guy’s man cave, use a bold brick red and a deep gold. And install a chair rail between the colors to accentuate the line of demarcation.
