Mask spots on living room furniture by tossing a neatly folded throw blanket over the back of a stained sofa, chair or recliner. To hide seat cushion spots, open the blanket and tuck it into the crease where the cushions meet the back of the sofa or recliner. Tuck the hanging end of the blanket around and underneath the outward-facing edge of the cushion to keep furniture looking neat. Or, pile up a few throw pillows in front of the stained area to temporarily mask spots from view.
Conceal carpet stains by placing a thin area rug over them. For spots near where the carpet intersects with a wall, place a small, skirted table or a storage chest over the spot. You can also use baskets filled with magazines or blankets or position floor pillows over stains to conceal spots in more conspicuous areas of carpeting.
Hide spots and stains on walls by tacking a poster or hanging a framed picture over the spotted area. For low spots on walls, position a piece of furniture or potted house plant in front of the stained area.
