How to Make Weed Wacker Racks

Weed wackers are used to easily cut weeds from sidewalks or stoops. After you use your weed wacker, you might just set it in a corner in your garage. Putting the weed wacker in a corner allows access to children and could cause harm. If you want to build a rack for your weed wacker, you can do it with just a few tools and some wood. You don’t have to be a home improvement genius to build your own weed wacker rack in your garage. You can do it yourself with little hassle and minimal knowledge of carpentry.

Instructions

    • 1

Use a miter saw to cut a two-by-four to 12 inches. Cut two pieces of a 1-inch wooden dowel to 9 inches.

    • 2

Draw a 6-inch vertical line across a board. Measure 1 inch to the left, and then measure 1 inch to the right of the center.

    • 3

Drill a 1-inch hole through the marks on the board. Put a mark 1 inch from each of these holes. Drill a one-quarter-inch hole into the wood. These are pilot holes to secure the board to your wall.

    • 4

Put wood glue around the sides of the 1-inch holes, and slide the dowels into the holes. Allow the glue to dry for about two hours.

    • 5

Use a stud finder to locate the studs on the wall that you want to mount the rack to. Line the pilot holes up with the studs on the wall.

    • 6

Drill the screws into the pilot holes to secure the rack to the wall. Make sure that you're using screws that are long enough to go through the rack and into the studs.
