How to Make a Dog Themed Room

Any child who adores dogs is right at home in a dog decorated room. Mix creativity and manpower to transform a child's bedroom into a doggie delight complete with dog house. This plan works well for boys or girls and can be customized if your child likes a specific breed of dog or a certain color. As an added touch, put a dog bed in the room so that your dog can share in the fun.

Instructions

    • 1

Look through lots of design books and magazines to get some ideas for the dog theme room and pick out furniture styles, decorations and colors you want to incorporate into the room.

    • 2

Remove everything from the room. This will give you room to work.

    • 3

Paint the room in desired solid color. Allow this base coat of paint to dry thoroughly.

    • 4

Select a visible wall on which to paint a mural. Use a carpenter's pencil to draw a large, life-size doghouse on the wall. Draw the doghouse so the bottom of it runs along the floor of the room. Paint the dog house in desired colors.

    • 5

Place a large stuffed dog on the floor in the room, in front of the doghouse mural. Put a dog collar and leash around the dog's, neck. Secure the end of the leash to the wall with a nail where it looks as if the leash connects to the doghouse.

    • 6

Paint a dresser and nightstand white. Use several coats of paint to be sure it covers. Allow the paint to dry completely. Use black acrylic paint and a stencil to paint doggy paw-prints all over the dresser and nightstand. Allow the furniture to dry.

    • 7

Place a bed in the room against the wall, beside the dog mural. Place the nightstand beside the bed and the dresser against another wall in the room. Place small toy dogs on top of the dresser and nightstand.

    • 8

Decorate the bed with furry pillows and throw blankets. Arrange several stuffed dogs on top of the blankets like they are sleeping.

    • 9

Hang lots of dog-theme paintings and pictures on the walls. Finish the room by adding touches like, lighting, other furniture and shelves.
