Instructions

    • 1

Clear the items you have stored in the basement, or move those items to another part of the room. Determine which part of the basement you want to convert to a home office.

    • 2

Examine the walls and floors of your basement after the next heavy rain. Have the basement waterproofed if you notice any moisture at all.

    • 3

Find the existing telephone connections and electrical outlets in the basement. If your basement does not have a phone connection, you can use a cordless phone with an extra handset instead of a dedicated landline phone.

You can transform your basement to an attractive office.

Put your desk in place so that it is within easy reach of the electrical outlets and the phone line, if your basement has one. Plug a UPS or power strip in to the electrical outlet closest to the desk.

Place your computer, monitor, printer, telephone and other office necessities on the desk. Arrange the items on your desk for maximum comfort and utility. Place a filing cabinet near the desk if you need extra storage space for your office paperwork.
