Luxury Shower Tile Ideas

A luxury shower is almost as relaxing as having a spa in your own home. Many luxury showers incorporate massaging shower heads, comfortable seating and decorative tile into the design. Some types of shower tile are more moisture-resistant and mildewproof than others, so choose a style that works best in your luxury shower design.
  1. Glass

    • Glass tile is a contemporary construction material used in luxury shower designs. Glass tile is water-resistant, easy to clean and eye-appealing. Most hardware stores and home improvement stores have glass tiles that come in both clear translucent and colored styles. Opt for translucent or earth-tone glass tiles that provide elegance and sophistication for your luxury bathroom design. Select glass tiles that are 1-by-1-inch or 4-by-4-inch. Avoid larger glass tiles that could overpower the small surface area in your shower.

    Mosaic

    • If you want to add pattern to your luxury shower, select mosaic tiles that harmonize with your bathroom motif. Select warm colors, such as mocha brown, butternut, terra cotta and soft gray for a warm and friendly design. Do not choose extremely vivid or brightly colored mosaic tile unless your shower area is large. Bright colors could detract from the luxurious appeal of your bathroom.

    Porcelain

    • Opt for porcelain shower tile if you want hard, moisture-resistant tile that is mildewproof. Specific glazes are used in the construction of porcelain tile that make it a sturdy, water-resistant luxury shower option. Install grout that can be sealed with chemicals to provide an even stronger bond against moisture, mildew and soap scum. Select luxury porcelain tiles in warm, rich tones for an elegant design.

    Subway

    • If you want a unique bathroom design, install subway tiles in your luxury shower. Subway tiles have a long, rectangular shape like a brick and come in a variety of neutral and softly muted colors. Subway tiles have a contemporary design, because installation requires each row to be slightly offset from the row beneath it. For a luxurious appeal, install subway tiles without grout. The result is smooth, even tiles, one right up against the next, with no grout lines between them.
