How to Decorate With Offset Windows

Room symmetry is an important part of decorating your house. It provides cohesion and balance to every room. When one window is offset, the symmetry of the room is thrown off balance, making decorating the room more difficult. However, using a bit of creativity with decor grouping can help mask the asymmetry the offset window creates.

Instructions

    • 1

Gather pictures and wall art in various sizes and shapes. Keep the color and subject matter of the wall art similar. Use the colors and style of the room as inspiration. If choosing art that does not have a similar theme, unify each piece with similar mattes or frames.

    • 2

Cut paper into the same size and shape as each piece of wall art.

    • 3

Use tape to arrange the pieces beside or around the window. Place heavier pieces or art with bolder colors on the bottom of the arrangement. They will make the grouping appear top-heavy if arranged near the top. Try different patterns to see which grouping feels most natural.

    • 4

Mark each art placement with a pencil. Install screws or nails for support.

    • 5

Hang each piece of wall art where you positioned the corresponding paper.
